UTADA UNITED 2006

I won't be doing any reviews, because the concert speaks for itself. Sets, costumes... It's just great, ya?

The reason to watch? To witness the neverending talent of Hikki. We all know her ability to use her voice as an instrument, but she always brings songs to new heights, especially classics such as Hikari, Sakura Drops and Automatic. Hikki even improved the cello-version of Be My Last, which I didn't like in the first version played on Music Station. She knows what audiences like, and fine-tunes her songs to perform for them. I am very impressed, and shall ever be.

Even the guitarist, Kon Tsuyoshi stunned me. I knew he was good, but I didn't know how far he could go with his skills. If you get the chance to watch the concert, take note of his guitar play.

任天堂のこと

I've always wanted to get an organiser software for my Nintendo DS. Never mind there are no enough earth-moving games, or that Nintendo Wii is coming out. There is STILL no organiser though. haha...

What I'll be getting tho, is the Nintendo Browser. With WiFi capabilities, I can surf the net at areas with free Hotspots such as Macdonalds and Funan. It connects through IEEE 802.11, ie our usual routers (for me it's linksys), so it is compatiable in Singapore. It'll be so convenient in the future with iN2015 going on, where Singaporeans will be able to access the Internet for free throughout Singapore. And I have two batteries too, to last me quite a while. heheh... My investment on Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin and Final Fantasy III may have to wait.

On a side note, by the current operations by the current Nintendo head, Nintendo is heading in a great direction, I think. Not only has Nintendo set 1000 Hotspots around Japan (and soon 15,000 in Europe), it has also revolutionised the market with first, the DS using stylus and voice capabilities, and second, Wii bringing home entertainment back into the homes with movement-sensing controller.

Uh-oh, company analysis. Darn marketing module.

Right now I'm feeling really happy that I blog.
All my ups and downs in my past years came rushing back.

Episode 1:

Densha Otoko meets Hermes on the train.

Densha falls in love.

Drunken old man appears! *shudder*

Drunken old man starts to disturb the passengers, and moves on to haress Hermes.

Hermes asks the drunk to stop it.

Densha sees it, and tries to build up courage to stand up to the drunk.

Hermes finally unable to stand it, rises up, slaps, sractches, punch, kick, uses 5-Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique, uses Turtle-sect Qigong, uses "天", uses the red button in Washington White House on the drunk.

199 hits. Drunk runs away.

She grumbles, "Siao eh! Test my patience!"

Densha breaks out in cold sweat, breaks his heart, and breaks his confidence to ever finding a girlfriend.

I’ve decided to write about maids!



A few reasons to this sudden, and expected, enthusiasm:
1) to clear up a few concepts of “the maid”
2) to try writing something intellectual after not writing them for a long time. You want a slightly lighter version? Imagine me saying all these with a very serious face.
3) to put an mental shield around myself. I can feel my cousin breathing down my neck! She's in San Fran, and that's scary.

Whenever I consume anything, I look for representation – what is means to me. That would explain why I chose a cheery white Toshiba lappy over a dull black IBM one, even though it was slightly cheaper and more high-ended. (of course, Toshiba being a Japanese brand would win my heart over anytime) It’ll also explain why I watch so much anime, and be interested in merchandises.

So why maids? Don’t simply wave it off as a dysfunction, analysis is needed. Know: not all maids will do. *nod head*

They are Japanese. Easy to understand, ya? Then again, not all Japanese will fit the maid image. What the industry (yes, it is an industry now) require is people belonging to the 萌系, or the “cute classification”. And again, not all “cute” will do, since cute is hard to define, and probably be able to be broken down into more subclasses.

Maids represent loyalty and absolute kindness. It isn’t so hard to understand why otakus would like maids that much because of their societal issues. At these cafes, they are accepted as a normal person, meeting people who will not look down on you. Hey, I even think it’s a step to help those hikikomoris (people who hole themselves in the room away from society) to leave their room!

In view of this, I love theme restaurants. Why should you just tantalize your tastebuds and leave you eyes free? These maid cafes are colourful and interesting. Why? Simply because maids are walking around. Hahah…

The clothes of a maid is as important. I’m interested in costumes and cosplays (that is not to say I’m good at it), so the costume is an important factor. Much like fashion, the design has to be dynamic, thus you can’t just don a blouse, skirt and an apron and call it a maid costume. Using my friends words, you must “look like a character out of an anime”. Not exaggeration. Dynamism. Furthermore, I have a small but sufficient exposure to the French culture, thus their style appears elegant. This gives an additional representation of elegance to the maids.

I should be getting back to studying. B4 I go, here is a video of Arisa and her maid café Mai:lish. It's a good intro to those who are not sure about these maid cafes. (Umm, ignore the last part abt the frog. It’s something the couple who went to film included. Read the comments if you want to find out more though.)

Yes, I prefer the old light-hearted One Piece it has reverted back to, than the frightening (but great!) movie 6. No longer focusing on the fight, but rather the treasure hunting process! Happy figuring out the puzzles! Knowing Japanese helps. hahah...

Still they threw in easter eggs like the discovery of Gear! Very enjoyable for a fan like me~~ And the music is good. Not inspiring like the last two openings for One Piece TV Series, but still a fitting ending song. Kaixin! Send me Sayaendou!

I've completed the inventory for my necklace, and it looks better with the new ring I bought. Man, I should be selling this sort of thing: interchangability necklace. Yea, I'm gonna call it "IC Necklace"! No pictures again, since I'll be wearing it often.

Gotta work on my wrist wear though. Something's missing... (maybe it's just plain ugly ＿|￣|O) I also need to perfect the wearing method. Because I used supposedly one method to produce two different results out of my wrist wear...

Zhnging a black bag I found! Still need a lot more work, a lot more things to hang like skulls and crosses, but あの感じ is there...

Made 4 new necklace strings. Because there isn't any out there that I have in mind.

I love J-rock shops and GL shops! I reccommend Hot Plus in Far East Plaza. I'd like to believe it's a one stop for your needs. To add a little mat look, look to 3rd storey at the far end from the enterance.

On a side note about stores, found HG toy!! Bwahaha... but $59.90. Didn't bring money to buy though. Head cine 2nd storey people.

How I came upon this song, is through Hikki's episode on Music Station. Picked up another 2 jewels, "Good-bye Days" by YUI and "あの夏も　海も　空も" by Fukuyama Masaharu. I didn't like Squall, but this is nice. And YUI's song is for the movie she starred in "タイヨウのうた".

And I take back word about not liking One Piece's OP 6 "Brand New World". Loved it on second hearing. See? Things always need a second chance.

Realised I could have too strict on my decision to go pure red, white and black for the new sem. Because too ex to revamp. ARGH! But I've already bought the ties (thanks a million Vivian!! (^▽^) ), so I've gotta go creative with what I have...

I just wrote 2 mails. I sent neither. They were hate-mails, nothing more than complains towards the persons.

The more I wrote, the more I hated myself, hated the things that had happened to me, hated the way I reacted in situations. I realised how weak I was, how the world around me thinks, how I thought I was losing my mind.

I disliked how the world thinks. It looked down on individuals like me. Hundreds of pple I've met, 50% judged me on first sight, 35% gave up on me, 10% continues to pretend to be a friend, 5% wavers, with a measly less than 1% I want to believe they truly are friends.

I had escaped this world by seeking my own. Never had I found such comfort in the otaku world. The perfect world of falsity without contemplating what flaws I had. Acceptance without question. It's disconcerting because it's not reality. But I don't care. The real world, the place we are doomed to live in, is a sick place. There is no more truth in that world, than this world that is created in for me.

I belong here.

While there's Haruhi-ism, there's got to be the Mikuru-ism! Reviews weren't kidding about extreme cute-ism in "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya".

youtube it, but warning you about the episode jumping. I'm told the novel itself could be as messy, but i've conjectured why the author does it... now to finish the series to see if I'm right.

:edit: Yes! I was right about the heightening of emotions towards the end of "Haruhi". It's kinda hard to explain without spoilers, but I've grown to love the character in a gradual way, with a much fulfiling ending than it would have been for a normal storyline. So, please watch it in the way the episodes are given to us for a better fulfilment.

The red-cloaked cosplayer was in fact Dante from Devil May Cry 2. His costume cannot be identified immediately, but the sword Rebellion was made accordingly to the the game.

3 whole days of video editing complete! Yes! Plus, feeling a little buay song. Plus I need to source out a coat for "butler"-ing use. Off to Bugis!

Looking for a coat of inversed colour, with linings a different colour. (Hey, that's how I describe it) This lady at one of the stalls tried to sell me these common coats, saying coats are popular now. Wait, I agree they're common, but popular? First, unless you are tall with a built to match, you'll look good. If you're some short scrawy guy, it's a poor excuse to beef urself up. Much like a guy wearing a maid suit, it doesn't work! Second, where am i to wear it? Clubbing? Siao* Go for shirts people, not go for suana in Singapore weather.

Yosh! The drink stall selling fruit juice still there, just on the opp side. Customers seem to have decreased due to the drink stalls set-up outisde near the bus-stop. Evil world of business. Bought strawberry, and red-strings, and zao-ed from there. Didn't go kino, because dun have Arisa-hime's photobook anyways...

Sunshine Plaza! It's an addiction for me to drop by there everytime I'm nearby liao. Cosplayers had a gathering there, though I dun noe what. Maybe it's the Bleach team. Met Skye! Well can't say I met her, because she didn't see me. HENG AH! *siams "Mr Random Friend"* Well, can't wait for the next stock to arrive...

Got a lot, and I mean ALOT of "flag day"-ers. I lucky to have coins sia. So meet one, give one coin. Sorry to those who had to settle for the 5 cents coins... Hahah... Orchard was more crowded than before, I wonder why...

Entered OG, then it hit me. Only ladies' coats have the inverse colour coats, while for men will have to get them tailor made. I ain't buying no female coats cause I'm too tall for it... and because I dun to turn "butler" into "OL"!

Gave up when I reached taka, and that's when I settled for these checked wristbands, and decided to revamp wardrobe! The master plan is already in my mind... 2nd round destress!

WHY did I write this post? Because I bought wristbands instead of a coat! My point being, can means can, cannot means cannot. Find, I mean. Cannot find.

As for the cloth which Orihime weaved, it was wonderful, and the Lord of Heaven admired her working.But to his pity, the daughter worked too hard to spend time for herself- like putting on her make up, and dating with a boy friend.

So he decided to let her marry Hikoboshi who was also hard worker ,lived in the west of the Milky Way ,and a cattleman . Then Orihime and Hikoboshi began new life in this way.

However, after their marriage , they were enjoying everyday, actually it was too much, they didn't work any more. At first the Lord of Heaven let them do, but finally he got angry, and said to them to live separately - made Orihime live in the one side of Milkyway ,and Hikoboshi live in another side. And the lord of Heaven said to them "If you work very hard, I will let you meet at the night of 7th July "

Orihime was so sad, but decided to work very hard, Hikoboshi as well.

However, when it rains on July 7 when two people longed for it, the volume of water of the Milky Way increases, and Orihime cannot go to the opposite bank.

"Random friend" - not I say one, but I think it's an interesting term.


:edit: the 3rd I came up with is "otaku-priced" - because merchandises are really ex, and otakus are still willing to pay.

Personal dysfunctionalities aside, I am struck by the memorability of Erina. I mean, you can take only 1 look and you would be able to forget her face. Going through a video having seen her pic only once, I just went, "Ah, Erina-chan." Just like that. *snap fingers* ohoh! I love Teduka's smile! Sure brightens the day! :D

I haven't been able to find their music online, but I hope for Momo-mints' success nevertheless. Who knows? With their music, they could convert otakus. Imagine mentioning "momo-mints" to an otaku, and he goes into "Shibuya-mode". \(^▽^)/ And I...erhm, otas will finally be normal!

Free bananas? Nope, that ain't it. It's the name of one of the curious bars outside Wisma that we often walk by, wondering if they really do give out bananas. Well, Vinc and Guozheng wanted watch World Cup, and Free Bananas had free seats, so "A seat for three please!"

Free Bananas is also the name of the drink that consists mainly of Brandy. Topped up with a sweetness and a cherry in a martini style, the conical glass of yellow alcohol win your heart over. Not too mention it's slightly heavy. 12 bucks a glass, slow sips for enjoyment over the meal.

Over that is the winning Long Island. Winning simply it's popular...? Or because Guozheng ordered it, and his team won? Haha... Anyway, the drink is served in this beauitful frosted-like glass. The question would be how to get the cherry that at the bottom of the glass. It certainly ain't fermenting CO2 to float up. 15 a glass, slightly ex as compared to clubs where you can get it in jugs.

Pina Coloda - sweet is the name, sweet is the drink. The alcohol content is noticably low, and the honeydew and pineapple flavours will quickly cover any bitterness that the rum may have. Reminds you of a smoothie with the crush ice that is in the drink. Drink fast, cause the hot weather melts the ice fast too! 10 bucks for a ladies' favourite, because seriously guys, we're not sweet to understand the drink.

With the release of Hikki's "Sanctuary", the English version of "Passion", Kingdom Hearts 2 is finally released.

Apparently, she wrote "Sanctuary" first, before translating into Japanese. The translating was difficult, but hey, she pulled it off and produced "Passion" for the Japanese market.

There are differences between "Passion" and "Sanctuary", one clear distinction being an bass-ic electric scratch cut-in before the last chorus. The overall feel by that cut-in changes the mood of the song. While "Passion" excels in lyrics and inspirational mood, "Sanctuary" is also fitting to Kingdom Hearts in a more serious look, more fitting for the game of battle. But I'll have to play the game first before knowing if it really does fit the game though.

The end. For the fishes, of course. ARGH.

... of the lost boy

Met a young boy on bus 197, and he was crying.

Turned out he lost his wallet, handphone battery was flat, and was panicking. Lent him my phone, and he called his parents to pick him up at JE.

Was going to accompany him to JE, but after a few words with him, I reminded myself, "Children these days are very smart." Right, he was just panicky. No biggy.

Yeah! Life goes on!

After I got off, it rained! No matter, had my iPod, anything went y'all. Entered this Japanese convenience store and got this:



I thought the 麦香 Milk Tea was great, but now this is probably better. Better in that, being red tea, it tasted sweeter. Too bad the price tag also "better". 2.90 a bottle. You can guess I turned away from the 3.?? dollars bottles...

Found a corner to drink, learn lyrics, watch cats and waited for the rain to stop.

It was that hard to pick a suitable song, ya? I guess that happens when you know too many songs, Brandon. Hehe...

6 mths left till the prophesied death of my iPod.
10 days left till I get a new handphone.
15 hours left till sch starts officially.

Check out TOKIO's "Save As..."!! It's really, really good. Fantastic beats and great chorus.

And listening to PASSION in the soft rain... got feeling ah.

While Masquerade by SADS seemed fitting in my life. Good song too.

Today went out with the JSS/JMC gang. (Oh yes, I need to find a name to this gang. Saying JSS/JMC is a chore...) Only we didn't know what to do...................... Right. On to other matters. I've reminded myself what's what. What should be, what is different, and what in the world. Hahaha...

Oh yes! Nic complimented my braces modules without using the word "sweet"! You rock, Nic. Now, I'm going to dive into my CDs to find songs I've burnt before...

... of primary school days

Did a little clearing of some old stuff under the rug, and found some letters and photos... it was pretty nostalgic, since I could recall some vivid memories from Jin Tai Primary.

Photo 1 - Miss Emily Chia and the AVA prefects. Miss Chia was SO popular among us 4A's, being our form teacher and taught us English. Almost everyday we would be writing these "love letters" and placing it on her table before she came in for class. It was a pity she was quitting her job, and going overseas to accompany her husband (yes, we continued to call her MISS. Y? Dunno!). Still can remember the day she was leaving, the whole class was practically sitting around her on the last day crying our hearts out. This particular photo was the only one I have of her. Doko ni iru?

Photo 2 - Knew him through primary 1 till 3. My "rabbit" buddy. Why? Both of us had buck teeth then, thus him being nicknamed "Bugs Bunny" and me "Roger Rabbit". (Yupz, it was probably when my name first appeared.) Oh yea, he was Indian, and could speak Chinese! Thought it was pretty cool.

Photo 3 - Zijun. My scout buddy. Intro-ed me into Scouts, were good frens through primary school, and both of us became scout leaders! Thanks to him I also got to know Ziwen and Mr Cheng, my maths and form teacher after MISS Emily Chia.

So I have to answer to a question of what do I want to change in my life past? For the 3rd, I'd have to say I wished I could have kept some contacts of some frens. Well, for some reason, the situation now should stay as it is. Hehe...

Well, back to more packing. Chinese New Year is such a good excuse to start packing stuff up.
