LSM1301 General Biology module teaches Bio *duh*, and on friday the classification and naming of spieces. There will always be a common name and scientific name for each. For example:
Common name - American Robin
Scientific name - Turdus Migratorius
Or even defined as "Batman's Sidekick". *cold wind blow*
How do they come up with these scientific names? It can be through their habitat, appearance, and/or lifestlyes. You can even name them in the honour of people, like naming it after LYK, or after Tony Blair. To do it, there are a few simple rules...
For gentlemen - we add '-i' at the end of their name, eg. "Johnsoni"
For ladies - we add '-ae', eg. "McNeiceae". pronounced as 'eh'
For family name or a group - we add '-orum'
What if WE had scientific names? I just take examples from my list on the right and we have......
