ラブラブ!Rabu rabu!
Hmm? Nono, not "Love love". Its "Rub rub".
But think about it. It’s how the Japanese translate phonologically the word "Love" and "Rub". Both will be "rabu". You can’t blame me for thinking it's advocating the sexually gratification "rub rub" every time it goes "RABU RABU!" And so, "Love" and "Rub" are replaceable with each other!
And it's extremely pervasive in every aspect of our lives!
Personal level - Lovers saying "I Rub You" to each other…
Community level – "Spread the Rub" people!
International level - Nations are saying "Make Rub, Not War", ya?
There are plenty of songs out there promoting "rubbing" too!
"You Give Rub a Bad Name" by Bon Jovi – 1980s...
"Rub Me" by Colin Raye – 1990s...
"This Rub" by Maroon 5 – 2000s...
"She Will Be Rubbed" by Maroon 5 – I... didn’t need to know that...
"How Deep is Your Rub" by Take That – Talking skills great here!
"Have I Told You Lately That I Rub You" by Rod Steward – Or really bad ones!
"Can You Feel the Rub Tonight" by Elton John – Another bad one...
"Sea of Rub" by Honeydrippers – Huge Orgy...
"Show Me The Meaning of Being Lonely" by Backstreet Boys - ... or when people do it alone
"Rub Potion No. 9" by The Clovers – what you need when you're alone
"I Just Called to Say I Rub You" by Stevie Wonder – People doing over the phone...
"I Knew I Rubbed You" by Savage Garden - ... or doing with too many people.
A deeper look into the song lyrics will reveal the long history and promotion for rubbing!
In Bon Jovi's "Thank You for Rubbing Me":
Thank you for rubbing me
For being my eyes when I couldn't see
For parting my lips when I couldn't breathe
Thank you for rubbing me
Thank you for rubbing me
Girls have been begging for it in "Rub Fool" by The Cardigans...:
So I cry, and I pray and I beg
Rub me Rub me!
Say that you rub me!
Fool me Fool me!
Go on and fool me! [scholars note: typo error of “DO”]
Rub me Rub me
Pretend that you rub me
Leave me Leave me
Just say that you need me
I can't care about anything but you
…or homosexual guys in "All for Rub" by Sting, Byran Adams and Rod Steward:
Don't lay our rub to rest
'Cause we could stand up to you test.
We got everything and more than we had planned,
More than the rivers that run the land.
We've got it all in our hands. [How literal]
Now it's all for one and all for rub. (It's all for rub)
Let the one you hold be the one you want,
The one you need,
'Cause when it's all for one it's one for all. (It's one for all)
When there's someone that should know
Then just let your feelings show.
When there's someone that you want,
When there's someone that you need
Let's make it all, all for one and all for rub.
… or the simply desperate in "Can’t Help Falling in Rubs" by UB40:
Wise men say only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in rubs with you
Shall I stay, would it be a sin
If I can't help falling in rubs with you
Classics promote it, like "Unchained Melody":
Lonely rivers flow to the sea, to the sea
To the open arms of the sea
Lonely rivers sigh 'wait for me, wait for me'
I'll be coming home wait for me
Oh~ my rub~
My darling~
I've hungered for your touch
A long lonely time
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?
I need your rub~
I need your rub~
Godspeed your rub to me~
Musicals promote it, like "Phantom of the Opera":
Say you'll share with me one rub, one lifetime...
say the word and I will follow you...
Raoul & Christine:
Share each day with me,
each night, each morning...
Christine:
Say you rub me...
Raoul:
You know I do...
Raul & Christine:
Rub me - that's all I ask of you...
Anywhere you go let me go too...
Rub me - that's all I ask of you...
And you know rubbing’s all people think about, as shown in "Where is the Rub?" by Black Eyed Peas:
People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek
Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the rub~
Where is the rub~
Where is the rub~
Where is the rub~ the rub~ the rub~
Here I present to you 3 songs, which I think are ultimate "rubbing songs". I’ve attached embedded songs, so enjoy. In whatever way. Hey, I'm not here to pass judgement!:
